This sure was a surprise. Bill represented the NBA, and our scene, in an admirable way.
I always got a kick of an audience shot, and there he was, easy to spot.

I got my first subscription to SI for Christmas when he was still at UCLA. Like Joe Montana, you could follow their greatness from college right into the pros.

The world needs more Bill Waltons. Tough to see the good ones pass. Rest in peace man, hope you get to see Jerry :bigheart

Man this makes me sad. He seemed to only ever emit positivity. In December 2022, I ran into him at a Dead cover band show (Cubensis) in Hermosa Beach. I walked into the bar and he was in there dancing to the music. It was a very unexpected, but pleasant surprise to see. He was having a blast. I hope to be as positive of a person as him one day
