How long to get through security this tour?

Post by Indyjohn37 » Fri May 26, 2023 11:44 pm

Is there anyone who has been to any shows this tour who can tell me how long it has been taking to get through security and into the show? I keep hearing people have been missing parts of the show and i missed a few first set songs at st louis last year due to it taking about 2 hours for me to get in after doors. But that was the slowest and worst I have ever experienced it 25 years of shows

Haven't been to a show this year, yet. All the years prior at Folsom, the shakedown, "Weir" pretty much non existent. The ga field line (east side, away from the mountains) is the serious "rubber stamp express". But waiting in line for 7-8 hours has it privileges. But for some reason I always get the person in training and/ or with the faulty scanner. And yet I seem to get the same exact locale every year. If in doubt, if practicable, get there early. Best of luck kids. See ya upfront!?

That's unfortunate. Wishing you, and a lot of other concert goers a better outcome this year.

Security's a venue thing, not a band thing. So every venue's different. You're probably better poking around in communities of other bands that have played this year at the venue you're wondering about. With that being said, security at The Forum was chill and didn't take too long

I actually saw the same St. Louis show last year and had no problems with the line getting in. I do recommend entering about 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour early just in case anyway

Won’t be in St. Louis this year but am attending shows in the southern region of the country.

In my experience and from what I am hearing the issue is more the venues are opening the lots later and later to save a few bucks and this is causing traffic jams and folks missing because of that and not security line issues. I always hear folks complain about security lines to get in but have honestly never waited more than 30 mins in line to get in and I never go in more than 30 mins before the stated show time. If you get to a line and it is long, walk around to another entrance. People often try and go in with everyone else at the same entrance. I can't imagine it taking longer this year than in 2021, when they were 'checking' vacs cards.

That was the problem last year at St Louis. There was only 1 entrance for everyone and they opened late. I was there 90 mins early too. Ill have to go earlier I guess.

This is from berry_good on Ratdog.org about the St Louis show:

"The quickest way to enter the venue in St. Louis and avoid a traffic jam is to park for free at the Hollywood Casino and ride the casino's shuttle to the venue. You are dropped off at a private entrance to the venue that only the ppl on the shuttle can use. It cost $15 per person to ride the shuttle. You can buy a shuttle wristband inside the lobby of the casino. Anyone can ride the shuttle.

The quickest way to enter the lot and Shakedown is to take I-70 to Hwy 141 South to Riverport Drive North turn right and continue for 1-mile make a right turn into the lot, Shakedown will be on your right. You can park across the road from Shakedown. Parking is free. You don't need a ticket to the show to enter the lot. You will pass a Mobil gas station and a Dave & Buster's on your way to Shakedown."

Thanks guys!
It was better this year. I got there only 90 mins early but got in the gates after only 30 mins. I was pleasantly surprised. Show was sick! It was worth fighting the traffic to and from. What a smoker!

Someone on Facebook mentioned he left for the Starlake show at 5:30 pm and was very late and missed a big portion of the show.

In my opinion you should arrive in the lot at 3 pm. I realize it’s too early for some but in my opinion it’s better if you can swing it. And yes I know some lots won’t open till after 4 but I feel the race for earliest arrival may be the way
