Here's hoping I start the season with an upset!

It's all in good fun up here. We take hockey pretty seriously though.
This is a team that had four first overall draft picks in the just in the 2010s alone. My team has never had one in it's entire 50+ year history.
Did anyone see Ekholm's tirade at the officials after he cross-checked the Vegas guy face first into the boards? And then he whined about it the rest of the game. That's the Edmonton Oilers.
So I get it. Even computer analytics were picking the Oilers to raise Lord Stanley's mug this year with the regular season they had and the best powerplay by far going into the playoffs, it really looked like their year and I understand completely how they could be favoured. But as an ex-goaltender, I knew how weak they were at that position and how vulnerable they were to defensive mistakes.
I figured a disciplined team with a good defence and work ethic and good goaltending could beat them.
Most of all I had faith in the Oilers themselves. No matter what everyone else was saying about them, I never doubted them for a moment. I knew they could do it again this year and I was with them all the way.![]()
Maybe next year, as they say......over and over.
No cup coming home again this year, sigh. It would have been bittersweet at best if it was Edmonton though
Best of luck to everyone left. With no dog in the race, my congrats to whoever wins. I suppose upstart Florida would make a nice story.
