Re: I am going through sports withdrawal

Ah ...opening Sunday. If sports is a great distraction from what is happening in the real world, then the embrace of the NFL is the grandest, most colourfully tribal spectacle of all. The Roman games of our time with all the pagentry, ritual and violence softened for consumption of the mass audience in their easy chairs that that entails.

And judging from the revenue streams from merchandising, and tv alone never mind the paltry millions from the gate, there is a great need for distraction out there among the masses. So be it!! Allow the illusion to wash over me. Never mind the slightly uncomfortable homoerotic niggling of watching really big men in really tight trousers running into each other at full speed and then patting each other on the bums. Bring on Pam Oliver and the cheerleaders I say and let the games begin.

So as I don my dated and now slightly disreputable navy and electric green Russell Wilson jersey (which is for sale I might add :leafsmile :cheer: ) and head out to the pub to watch the afternoon game and allow myself to be washed away in beer and good company to become one with the great masses of the 12 - whether I be a CEO, a welder or living in a tent somewhere - one of 12. Screw the world and it's wars and fires and threats and smoke.......

There are Rams to slaughter..........

Ouch! That was ugly. Could be a really long season. I had to look up that reference. Col. St. Hopefully you guys will get er done on Saturday cause turns out our Rams had a mean streak. Good luck, anyway.

Okay, bring on hockey season :colorwave

It wasn’t a pretty win for the Eagles
I think they lucked out if you ask me
I’m not sure how this season will turnout with what looked like to me an inept running game
Jalen Hurts miss Dallas Goedert for easy TD passes on two consecutive plays
Bring on the Vikings

It's always "hackey" season. Uncle Joe and the Avs have a huge chip on their shoulders, after their on and off ice humiliation last spring. Made some great acquisitions during the off season. The boys are back in town!?

I think the starters should have played at least a little bit in the preseason. They looked pretty rusty.

The Bears still suck. Don't need Aaaaaaaron to beat these clowns. Justin Fields is not an NFL starter. Let's go Blackhawks :rofl
