Jerry

Post by Boxorain » Sat Nov 30, 2019 11:32 pm

My daughter plays all my old CD’s...most of the stuff I barely touch anymore. Tonight I walked into her room to say good night and she had just thrown on 2nd set 11/4/77...

I couldn’t leave till the last note

Man...sometimes I just simply forget how effing good Jerry was. Like beyond good. Like the ONLY one.

And of course this time period...so many of those notes were long forgotten / unattainable just a 1/2 decade later. And that strong emotional clear voice...the expression of what his fingers were doing. What he was feeling

Wow

He was the one and only, no one will ever sound just exactly like him, even if they get close sometimes! :bigheart :guitarred

While this may come as a bit of a surprise  I don’t always listen 2 GD. When I do, I am always reminded of how good a guitarist Jerry is & how effortless his playing seems. Jerry is the best of the best. :colorwave

Yea me neither Dave, that’s why I sometimes forget just how astonishing Jerry was. Like stop in your tracks greatness. I just couldn’t walk away from that 2nd set last night

He was great. When Jerry was playing the audience never really aged, because younger people kept discovering the magic so the Deadhead scene perpetually regenerated. To some extent it still does, but Bobby's audiences are often disengaged and disrespectful, a far cry from the X-factor. Jerry's request was to burn all things Grateful Dead with his remains. It's such a pity that he didn't make it to that retirement in the Hawaiian islands.

Jerry was just the greatest gift to all of us. Think God I got to see him and passed it down a generation. My son and I work together and he plays it at work 3 to 4 days a week. He has fell in love with Jerry. If I accomplished anything in life I raised a great kid.
If you get confused listen to the music play.
