The Great Outdoors

Post by MushroomMan » Sun Jun 23, 2019 11:15 am

Because we all know there's nothing like the great outdoors...

Since finishing the AT I was thinking of a thread like this to add outdoorsy pictures to and hopefully encourage more... scenic spots near you, places you've been, gardens, flowers, mushrooms, wildlife, lakes, rivers, swamps or whatever. Sometimes the unscenic spots are the most interesting. I almost lost and forgot how much I enjoyed the outdoors and 'the woods' for years, and a few things about myself along the way, but hiking the Appalachian Trail helped bring that all back. I've been planning and jonesing for my next opportunity to get out on a long distance trek since I got back. It's nice to get out on the weekend, which I try to every week, but there's nothing like being out in nature through the end of winter-spring-summer-fall and then the beginning of winter again. I didn't want that to end.

Here's a few pics from Georgia - I only seem to be able to add pics from my phone which are JPG files... most of my pictures were taken on my 'Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX100' and are ARW files that don't show up when I go to add files. Maybe I'll figure out how to get those on.

…..
lol well it looks like I can't add any - "file too large"

I feel like I tried this already and aborted when I couldn't add any pictures. This time I'm leaving it and hopefully I'll figure out the pictures later. I see lots of pics on the forum so I know it's possible. Anybody else could add any in the mean time and if anyone knows how I can make them work 8-)

Hi MM! I'm so proud of you for hiking the entire Appalachian Trail. That's truly an impressive and amazing accomplishment!! :jumpclap

As for the pictures, you can only post pictures from your phone using an app like Photobucket or Imgur (I use the latter). Otherwise you have to post from a computer. The other option if you're away from your computer is to text me a few pictures and I'd be happy to post them. I'd really like to hear more stories and see more pictures from your trip and from other folks as well. This is a great idea for a thread! :sunshine

Hey Mushroom Man! I run into that problem from time to time with images. I use a program with a lot less of a learning curve than photoshop called paint.net. It's a couple steps up from the Paint program on windows. It was originally designed to replace Paint. Very easy to resize images and when you save them, you can lower the resolution too. It's free @ getpaint.net

I'd love to see some pictures. Glad you missed machete man. I got a buddy who'd rather be there than anywhere. He explained to me the importance of Bic lighters, chapstick, and trail tail. :rofl Love that dude.

OK, I think I have the board re-configured so that you can post a file from your phone without using a photo storage app like Imgur. In the message box, go to the "Attachments" tab at the bottom, and select "files" or "camera" as appropriate (e.g., if it's already taken, select the former, if you're about to take one select the latter). Then click "place inline" and it will appear in the post after you submit it. Or should! :geek:

Mushroom Man, I really want to see some Appalachian Trail shots whenever you get a chance to test drive this. :sunshine

Doing the AT is a serious deal! Kudos to you. Maybe this post is what brought me back since photography is my thing. Image

Hmmm. That looks familiar
Shakedown Street, 9/29; Longmont
The Cosmic Charlies, 10/6; Boulder
Steely Dead, 10/21; Boulder
The Motet, 10/28; Boulder
The Last Waltz Revisted, 11/17; Boulder
Dead Floyd, 12/8; Boulder

.....As we celebrate mediocrity
