I saw a comment that stated "Phil is 2nd set dead whereas Ratdog was 1st set Dead." Let's do it.

Ratdog 4/4/98 in Atlantic City:

Phil and Friends 4/4/02 in Denver:

Though it’s a bit silly, I’m all in favor of comparing /contrasting Furthur, Dead & Co, Phil & Friends, Ratdog, Wolf Bros, Billy & the Kids, etc.
That said, IMHO none of these other groups are comparable to the Grateful Dead. Mostly because Jerry does not play with any of these others. YMMV.

I concur, but what I want to know why Phil and Jerry swapped sides? At the 82 show Cameron

34 years ago today was the start of my only home town run, two nights at Ann Arbor's Crisler Arena, right after Michigan won the NCAA basketball tournament. It was a great month!! Both shows were fantastic, I don't think I can pick a favorite, though the Terrapin Station the first night was sure a major highlight. Good times!! :listen :dance

Couple shows with lesser-known nuggets today: Phil and Friends 4/6/02 from Veil alongside Ratdog 4/6/01 in Asheville. Ratdog's rarity Welcome to the World in early set 2; Phil plays Acadian Driftwood and Lay of the Sunflower, which have become more sparsely-played in recent years. Both feature Grate setlists and playing. Both contain a Beatles song. :listen :guitarred

Ratdog:

Celebrating the anniversary of my favorite show - 4/7/1984 Irvine Meadows. If you've never heard it and decide to check it out, steer clear of the SBD (unless there's been a recent upgrade) in favor of an AUD. The SBD has some audio flaws and doesn't properly capture the incredible vibe of this show. Lesh was nothing less than a god that night, and Weir was hitting that whammy bar as hard as ever. Garcia explores the deepest depths of space and time during Space-Spanish Jam. I could go on and on, but for fans of this period in the band's history, there is nothing not to like about this show.
