If I had a choice, and there was a "Y" in the road, I would always take the one that was more fun as opposed to the one that might make me more money.

Well I was noticing the other night, for instance, that when I'm going through pistachios, opening pistachios, that the hard to open ones, I don't bother with them anymore

Expect to have hope rekindled. The dry seasons in life do not last. The spring rains will come again.

They were here once on a Sunday and I said, 'Why don't you stay over tomorrow and we'll go and have lunch in the Senate Dining Room?'... [They] caused quite a stir. In fact, the oldest member of the Senate, Strom Thurmond, came over and grabbed Jerry by the hand and introduced himself and said to Jerry [speaks with a Southern accent], 'Ah hear you a rock star.' Jerry, who was kind of a shy, quiet person, said, 'Well, I do my best.'

With Bobby, at first, I'd say to him "Well, should I play this instrument on this song or this other instrument?" and he'd say, "I don't care. Why not play one this time and the other the next time if you feel like it?" It loosened me up a lot and got me more into improvisation, which there hadn't been a lot of in Silver. I liked it a lot.

I can always choose, but I ought to know that if I do not choose, I am still choosing.
