Sorry if I'm overstepping here,
Not sure if anyone here knows the band "Shoglenifty"
The main driving force behind "acid croft" seriously jamming celtic music
Well today fiddle player Angus Croft passed away,
I met Angus a few times over the last decade on his visits to Australia, this guy was loose and intense all at the same time with the softest wrists of any fiddle player i've ever seen.
Shooglenifty wereborn out of celtic punk bluegrass in the late 80's and last year celebrated their 25th year.
I encourage people to ceck out the obits online and one of Angus' tunes "two fifty to vigo"
I was stage manager at their first show in Melbourne a long time ago and after being blown away by an incredibly musical and free spirited show I said to Angus,
"You guys sound like the Scottish Grateful Dead"
he laughed at me and said,
" No ones ever said that to me before...got any acid?"
we got on fine and had another good chat last year, I was trying to push him to hit the jamband scene and escape the clutches of the folkies
anyways
check them out
check him out
Vale Angus Grant
RIP Angus Grant
