Am I going to deadhead hell for listening to EDM ???

Post by roadtripper » Sat Dec 26, 2015 5:29 pm

The Grateful Dead and electronic dance music have a lot in common when you first listen you may not think that but as you get deeper into the nuances of the sounds the similarities reveal themselves for instance the dead one of the first bands to ever mash musical types similar to what DJs do now when mixing electronic dance music and matching songs also the Jazz like continuous connection of rhythms and beats with songs as well as the teasing and fading in and out of different songs all often found in electronic dance music the chill out stuff can be quite psychedelic I would say 90% of the music I listen to is Grateful Dead related 9% EDM and 1% other

At Glastonbury 2005, I was dragged kicking and screaming to see 2 Many DJs. I was completely and utterly sucked into the music. It remains my biggest musical surprise. That really opened my eyes to a lot of different things. I'm just as likely to be listening to triphop stuff as I am anything else these days.

Not for me. Most of that "music" is run through a lap top. Not a lot of soul, if any to arouse my interest.

Deadhead hell is no music of any kind. Nobody will go there willingly.

The Dead channeled about every kind of music. I was about to say "except rap", but if you've heard Mickey "sing" Fire On the Mountain... :D

I went through a phase of listening to Japanese pop music and loved it. I still listen to it from time to time
