Good Bye, Chester, Rest In Peace

A year ago today it seemed like any other day. We PM'd about who would do the set list that night and other board business. Then later you posted this:

Looks like we might have a stream tonight.

But then you never showed up for the stream, and I knew something had to be wrong. We both took breaks from streams, but never without touching base with each other first. Days later, the sheriff said it was sudden, and that getting someone over to your house sooner wouldn't have made a difference, and I try to believe that. Mostly I just miss you very, very much, and wish every day that you were still around and that I'd see your avatar in the Word Game or a PM coming through with a Vulcan smiley. Know that you are missed and loved and always will be, my dear friend!!

Was just cleaning up a bit over the weekend and I came across a strangers helping strangers poster I bought from Bruce @ Bears Picnic, one afternoon long ago. It brought back so many memories, such a great, kind, caring guy, so messed up. Cherish life my friends, and enjoy every day as if it's your last. That's the heartbreaking message I hear from our brother Bruce.

PS, I always wondered why his signature ended the lines from I can't come down. I used to hear them as cold...out of character for "Chester". I now realize it was a line of kindness......of how accepting Bruce was.

"Who you are and what you don't make no difference to me."

I believe this post is me finally accepting, saying my real goodbyes, knowing I will not see Bruce this summer....nor next. A brother who I will always love more than words can tell (and as I always joked with him I also hate him...with love....for an introduction he made back in 2001..more than words can tell ).
