I miss Chester and all my Phriends who have moved on to the great beyond:

New ones come in as the old ones go
Everything's moving here but much too slowly
A little bit quicker and we might have time
To say how do you do before we left behind.
Smile, Smile, Smile (~):-)

Chester would have been very happy today, he loved Super Bowl Sunday. Of course, that's just because it meant the football season was finally over and he didn't have to hear about it anymore!! :bigheart

Very weird feeling the other day going through my phone contacts and seeing "Chester". For some odd reason I could not delete it

Missing Chester bad tonight. The first egg of the season was laid tonight in the Decorah eagle nest. This would always set off a firestorm of PMs between Bruce and me. Not sure I even wanna watch the nest cam this year. Just not the same with out him. :bigheart

Wow - devastating news :(

I've been away for a good while and decided to check back in with the old FFF only to find out that Chester had left us.

When I joined the Furthur board, Chester (and Sue :) ) were so kind and gracious to me and treated me like family right from the word go. He was one of the architects for this place and stepped up on the FF to help keep the community active and vibrant.

Bless Chester and his family - I know his light is shining down on all of us each and every day!
Everybody's either makin love, or else expecting rain.

SunshineSue wrote:I miss coming home from a trip and not having a PM from Chester with a Welcome Home emoticon or graphic, he was always good about that. And it's going to be very strange not having him around for the rest of Phil's "year" shows, starting tonight. Chester used to get really, really annoyed when he wasn't the first one to call the show, bless his competitive little heart!! 8-) :bigheart
Friends,

Like TeaForTexas, I had been away from the board and caught the somber and starkly tragic news of 'Chester's passing about a month after the actual event. Then had been looking at the threads and posts from immediately prior to mid-December and onward throughout the time of Sue's juggling the status of the board, etc. Cheers Sue; cheers Emmy & Equinox. Thank you and cheers, Sunyata. Cheers and a hug to Zipster et. al.

I've been mulling the situation since then and among my reflections are that 'Chester had a cool spirit of leadership and propriety that had a special quality -- It was 'Chester!

I remember on the Furthur Forum, there was some show that we were streaming on the couch; can't exactly remember which show, but there had been a decent stream happening and things were going along okay. Perhaps it was the day or two following Leonard Nimoy's passing, but someone had posted a picture of Spock on the Bridge, at his station. As I said, the stream and the show were going along nicely, but at a certain point, the stream just dropped out -- evidently not just for me. There were a few remarks about the signal, and so I posted, relative to the stream, "...there seems to be some kind of temporal rift, Captain." I do believe it was 'Chester, and he jumped right on it and replied, "Shields up! Red alert -- man your battle stations...," or something of the like. We couldn't hear the show, but it was a kick, and we were entertaining one another. So we had a little Star Trek repartee and it was just a train of neat moments. Will we ever be able to peruse an archive of the Furthur Forum?

'Chester also liked to post things of relevance to the scientific community; perhaps I could emulate him in that capacity in the future. I'm not as up on my Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson as some of y'all, but I also remember he liked to post poetry, and as a matter of affinity, he liked my Moody Blues too!

We will get by,
We will survive...

Might as well travel the elegant way...

Cheers to all,

A
