it left an odd feeling walking in the first night of Santa Clara and hearing somebody on stage announce that "The Grateful Dead is about to hit the stage for the first time in bla bla bla..."

I know everybody knows that it wasn't but just the fact of it being advertised as "The Grateful Dead" left a bad 'money grab' sort of feeling

maybe it was just me
Agreed, and the way he convinced the band to promote it as the last time the four would ever play together...marketing hype and the VIP bs.
I do like the Cap though

It's called business boys. If you remember correctly, initial reaction to the 3 Chicago shows was that Shapiro was out of his mind...no way they were selling out 3 nights at 70,000 plus. People were laughing. Then all hysteria broke loose and it was the most sought after ticket in modern time. Ummmm, I'd say the promoter did his job. Don't think for a second the boys in the band didn't love that payday...their only regret was probably not charging a few more bucks. I got all 3 nights in the pit for $99...felt like I was stealin. That's too bad if the promotion and marketing of a show took away from your experience...that's just the mind stealn from the being. Not that I really cared either way but for what it's worth, I never heard anyone refer to the band in Chicago as the GD...it was always FTW or the Dead. I guess the bartenders, taxi drivers and Soldier Field employees never go Shapiro's memo

not only did the promoter do his job, he made the event so mainstream most people that initially wanted to go never had a chance!

Webcasts braaaa. If you're Booking a venue anticipating over 200,000 people in 3 days...you're already beyond mainstream. But Yup he did a hell of a job. And the DVD set is stellar. Beautiful quality

The guy is the master of wringing out every penny he can, I don't think anyone is denying that.

Other friends got rejected or wait listed

So like the airline stewardess speech..secute your own codes & tic first b4 assisting those with codes & tic

If u don't have enough codes for everyone choose who u most want dancing next you at the show

And remember...no show talkers :hand

STFU when Bobby is singing...

Wait listed as well.
I hope to get something. Seeing a Dead acoustic show has always been a pipe dream of mine. Possible, but highly unlikely. This is as close as I'm every going to get.
Fingers crossed though.
