Quite an epic show on this date: 8/18/70 at Fillmore West! First Truckin, Operator, Ripple, Brokedown, and Rosalie McFall! David Nelson also sits in.

WOW I forgot today is the 21st!!!! So of course, let's go back to Eugene: 8/21/93 at Autzen Stadium! Especially cool is the Oregon Trail Mix, included here. Be warned: set 2 plays before set 1 in this copy.

A personal note: I will be [have been] listening to August 80 shows, starting with 8/16. I recommend this run! Yes, many songs are repeated, and some shows are solely in aud (if you're nitpicky about that sort of that thing). I will list a few favorites from what I've heard so far below, 8/16-21/80.

8/16/80 Mississippi River Festival - Edwardsville, IL
- Iko is the only song from this show not repeated in the August 80 run
- C.C. Rider into China Cat to open set 2! And the China Rider is HOT!

8/17/80 Kansas City MO
- Wharf Rat harmonies are on point, pretty good version
- nice Good Lovin

8/19/80 Chicago
- first Rooster; also opens set 2 preceding China Rider (another hot version)
- Miss 1/2, Frank's, and Dire Wolf are the only songs from this show not repeated in the August 80 run

8/20/80 Chicago
- Terrapin and Dew are the only songs from this show not repeated in the August 80 run
- Set 2 pre-drums is HOT!

set 1 recommended from this source:

set 2 recommended from this source:

8/21/80 Chicago
- GRATE harmonies in High Time
- It's All Over Now and Shakedown are the only songs from this show not repeated in the August 80 run
- nice Shakedown and Promised
- Drums > UJB to open set 2? Cool!
- All of set 2 is enjoyable

In light of the bombshell news that dropped yesterday - my song for the day: Sugaree

”Had everything sewn up tight, how come you lay awake all night long?”

October 74 Winterland feels appropriate:

And Ship of Fools feels very appropriate today. From 12/30/77 Winterland;

Getting back on the Oregon Trail today, here's 8/22/93 in Eugene. Jack Straw starts off missing a key component, which leads to an extended jam. They played Jack > Bertha last weekend on the Sirius GD channel, and it's pretty damn enjoyable! I'd say easily this is the peak of late-era GD.

I am starting off my day with a Ratdog show from 8/23/08 in Camden. Enjoyable one-set show, with a nice Money for Gasoline > Eyes, and looking forward to listening to this Hard Rain on the way to work!
