Too Much Violence!!

Post by SunshineSue » Wed Feb 14, 2018 3:59 pm

Every mass shooting is horrific, but it seems particularly harsh on a day that should be celebrating love and friendship. All my thoughts and prayers are going out to the Florida victims of this latest tragedy. :(

I know this would never happen because there's too much money to be made off negative news but...I wonder if the violence would decrease if the nation came together as a whole and said that any event of mass violence like this will not be nationaly reported on any level? I bet it would...unrealistic hypotheticals

That's the 4th fatal shooting, totaling 5 deaths, multiple others where guns were used and "only" caused injuries. I was shocked to see the data, it's horrifying.

Shane, I hear what you're saying about not giving too much press to tragedies, but imho there has to be a balance between not glorifying shootings and making sure the public, and more importantly government, can't just stick their heads in the sand and ignore the problem. No easy answers! :?

There's got to be some sort of solution. Unfortunately I think it'll take a lot more vision than most of the people in government have right now.

Well it all starts at home. Kids are spoiled now...including my own. Family values have been lost and Kids today have a total lack of accountability. Sounds corny but at times I make my kids get off YouTube and watch an episode of Little House on the Praire with me. Old values, respect, giving thanks and accountability. That's a good start. The whole world could use Willie Nelson's parental advice to which he raised his kids by...."Don't be an asshole"

Ultimately, people will have to allow for some restrictions of their rights for the betterment of society. That, unfortunately, will never happen in this country.

I'm kind of glad to be living in Asia right now where there isn't wall to wall coverage of this. If I was at home, I'd be glued to the tv for hours. My heart goes out to everyone involved.
It takes time to pick a place to go ...

That's what the media and the jackssses who do these things want...don't watch, don't give them the ratings or the acknowledgement! Plus, you're really just stealing your own peace
