It was 36 years ago today, 8/7/82, at Alpine Valley, that the GD played a show fantastic enough to become Dick's Picks 32. And I was lucky enough to have been there, getting on the bus for my very first show!! Even after realizing 5 hours into the 6 hour drive that my tickets were still sitting on my dresser back in my dorm room, it was a fantastic experience. Used my most of my food/gas cash to replace the tickets (no sell outs back then in the Midwest) and enjoyed every minute of both nights at the show as well as the post-show fun back at Meadowlark Acres campground. The very first tune was The Music Never Stopped, and by golly, it still hasn't!! :dance :listen

Set 1: The Music Never Stopped-> Sugaree-> The Music Never Stopped, Me & My Uncle-> Big River, It Must Have Been The Roses, CC Rider, Ramble On Rose, Beat It On Down The Line-> On The Road Again, Althea, Let It Grow
Set 2: China Cat Sunflower-> I Know You Rider, Women Are Smarter, Ship of Fools, Playin' In The Band-> Drums-> The Wheel-> Playin' In The Band-> Morning Dew-> One More Saturday Night, E: U.S. Blues

And since one night at Alpine Valley is never enough, there's 8/8/82 for another wonderful Brent show! Plus there were sit-ins from special guests Zakir Hussein and John Cippolina. A fun night indeed!! :listen

Congrats on your anniversary, touch of rain!! :clap

I'm a day late, but on 8/13/67, I had a local show in Ann Arbor, though I couldn't attend. It was at a tiny bandshell in a very small park close to downtown and campus, just an open, free venue for school and community bands. This was a freebie connected to the Free John Sinclair efforts. Too bad I was only 6 at the time, bet it would have been fun. :D
