Today we go to 5/29/99 in Angel's Camp CA, one of the first Phil and Friends shows. A nice combo of Grate musicians: Phil, Molo, Kimock, Warren, Merl Saunders and Donna!

Get the feelin' I'm gonna find out real soon...

Thanks to David Lemieux for tweeting this picture from 27 years ago today. On 6/1/1991, the Grateful Dead played the LA Coliseum with opener Johnny Clegg and Savuka. If you've never checked out Johnny's earlier band, Jaluka, I can't recommend them enough. Their album Scatterlings is one of my all time favorites of any genre. They were a mixed-race band in apartheid South Africa and had to struggle to make music together, but it was so worth it! :clap

Here's the Dead set, too bad there's not more recordings of Savuka:

Did you know the Grateful Dead only played one show on 6/2 their entire career? According to setlists.net, this is it.

Enjoy 6/2/95 from Shoreline. There's an appearance by the Gyoto Monks in drumspace.
