I'm working on a poem created from GD lyrics for a wedding. I would love feedback and suggestions! Please note the lyrics have been altered slightly to fit the audience.
Here's what I have:
There is a road, no simple highway,
Between the dawn and the dark of night,
From the high road to the low, so many roads we know.
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the mornin’ brings, The heart has its seasons, its evenin’s and songs of its own.
This must be heaven ’cause here’s where the rainbow ends,
And at last it’s the real thing.
Real as a raven, real as thunder, real as the sun shining.
Lord, you know they made a fine connection,
They love each other, you can see it’s true.
You know he chose this place beside her, and I’ll
Tell you what he’ll do, he’ll watch out for you.
Make yourself easy.
You have a love like a fire, fire on the mountain with the comfort of
a sunshine daydream.
She’s a summer love in the spring, fall and winter. She’s got everything delightful.
She’s got everything he needs.
There’s laughing in her eyes, dancing in her feet.
A breeze in the pines in the summer night moonlight
Crazy in the sunlight yes indeed.
The first days are the hardest days, don’t you worry anymore.
Remember a box of rain will ease the pain
And love will see you through, just keep truckin’ on.
All you need, all you really need, is good love.
Lately it occurs to me
What a long strange trip it’s been.
The wheel is turning and you can’t slow down
All the years combine, they melt into a dream,
For this is all a dream we dreamed one afternoon long ago. They love each other more than words can tell.
I know their love will not fade away.
Not fade away.
